Published 2 papers and 1 video

mobile chain of survival
Just recently my colleague and I have published two research papers. I am very proud of the first one titled “Mobile phone in the Chain of Survival”, which was published after a lot of research in the Resuscitation journal. This short paper gives an overview of vast possibilities possessed by mobile phones to be of assistance in medical emergencies. It represents a continuation of my work with CPR mobile applications. I have also now published a video of the lecture I gave during the Resuscitation 2010 congress about the same subject. You can watch my 10 minute lecture here, and read our paper at the Resuscitation website.

The second paper we wrote appeared in the Croatian journal Lijecnicki Vjesnik (in English this would be something like Physician’s Newsletter). It is a case report demonstrating a patient with smell disorders, which we suspect were caused be lacidipine, a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension. So far this drug has not been linked with smell disorders, but other calcium channel blockers from the same group are well known to cause such problems. The paper is written in Croatian, but its abstracts is available in English – Can lacidipine cause smell disorders? A case report.

G for Geneva, G for Gold

I just came back home from 38th Exhibition of Inventions Geneva held in Geneva, Switzerland. Among around a thousand inventions, including 55 from class M (Medicine, Surgery, Hygiene, Orthopedics, Materials for the handicapped), I have demonstrated my CPR device (you can see it in my presentation from Amsterdam). The whole experience was truly fantastic and made even sweeter at the end, since my invention was awarded a gold medal from the international jury. Big thank you goes out to people from Noven, StivTrade, Croatian Association of Inventors, and Istrian Inventors.

For a quick preview, take a look at the short video below. More media will follow.

New website: Villa Bis

I have just finished work on a new website for a beautiful Villa Bis in Croatia. It offers luxuorious apartments on island of Krk and hopefully I managed to present it well with my design.

There are a couple of things you could do with this information:

  1. Visit VillaBis.com
  2. Spend your next vacation in Croatia
  3. Hire me to do some web design for you

Here is a list of some of the sites I designed in the past:

It’s Carnival Time!

bell ringers

My hometown of Rijeka, Croatia is famous for its carnival. Our carnival is one of the biggest in Europe. During the one held in 2001, there were 72 children carnival groups with 4.200 participants and 144 carnival groups of adults with 10.000 participants from 12 countries, watched by about 110.000 spectators.

A special attraction are definitely “the bell-ringers”, shown in the picture above. The bell ringers, with a heritage dating probably back as far as pagan times, arise special interest with their specific masks, dances and bell ringing, and symbolize the upcoming spring and fertility.

From all of this it should not come as a surprise that I will be hosting the 33rd edition of Medicine 2.0 Blog Carnival on Oct 19th. Be sure to visit the site and please submit interesting articles to me. Send your submissions by Oct 17th using my contact form.
